Theun Mares was born in
Zimbabwe, of a father who was a gold miner, and a mother who was a
natural seer. He spent most of his early life in the bush. “I have, for
as long as I can remember, always found my greatest inspiration in
nature, and because of that love have found myself to become ever more
absorbed in the behaviour patterns of all forms of life.” There Theun
began his training under the tutelage of the nagal J.
He studed at the University of Cape
Town and spent most of his working life in education. Theun embarked
upon a successful stage career in the performing arts. Here, in the
world of the theatre, he was constantly brought face to face with the
realities of human behaviour. He understood that most people think and
behave the way they do because of their social conditioning. That social
machine provides nothing but slavery and self-disrespect. In 1977, Theun
started to remember details of his training as a Warrior in previous
lifetimes. As he restored his memory Theun began to prepare for his work
as a nagal .
So now Theun is revealing the Toltec
Teachings to the world through his books, as well as teaching more
widely through his residential retreats.
